When you purchase a catamaran it is a long term investment you will want to protect. Without proper care your catamaran will lose monetary value due to it’s deteriorating physical condition. Changing your catamaran’s engine and generator oil and filters is something important to perform regularly. You will want to keep an eye on the condition of your boat’s sails and rigging. Every few years it’s a good idea to completely replace the sails on your vessel. When your sails are being replaced you should also have the rigging inspected and serviced simultaneously. Having sails and rigging that are in poor condition will negatively affect your boat. An important thing to consider when caring for your catamaran is to take it out of the water when not in use. It should be washed with fresh water to remove the salt from your sailing vessel, as the salt residue will build up and do damage over time. Wash your sails as well. Always inspect the hull of your boat for damage after use. If you adhere to these and other basic maintenance practices your catamaran will stay safe and protected. This in turn protects your financial investment for years to come.
